Public and private sector workers will get a long weekend in celebration of the UAE’s 54th National Day. Authorities announced that employees would be granted leave on Monday and Tuesday, i.e., December 1 and 2.

The team behind the UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations has unveiled this year’s nationwide programme, with the theme “United”.

To encourage participation, the Eid Al Etihad team has created an online hub with inspirational guides, activity ideas, and suggestions for families and communities looking to celebrate, discover, and learn together.

There’s also an official song playlist, featuring tracks that capture the joy, pride, and spirit of the occasion, available on the Eid Al Etihad YouTube channel.

Eid Al Etihad ceremony screenings

While we’re still awaiting confirmation of the official ceremony, here are the screenings taking place across Abu Dhabi where you can catch the live streaming.

  • Abu Dhabi: Public screenings of the official ceremony will be held in Khalifa City, Al Falah, Al Shamkha, and several Majlis venues, including Al Hawasim, Al Khatm, Al Shawamekh, and Shakhbout City.
  • Al Dhafra: Broadcasts at Al Dhafra Public Park in Madinat Zayed, Liwa Oasis, Al Shabahana Park in Al Sila’, Al Harat Park in Bida Mutawa’, the public park on Delma Island, Zayed Al Khair Park in Ghayathi, and the Majlis of Mohammed Al Falahi Al Yasi.
  • Al Ain: Viewers can watch near Al Ain International Airport and in majlis locations, including Al Tuwayya, Al Masoudi, Al Foah, and Al Maqam.

Fireworks are usually a key feature in National Day celebrations, and the 54th Eid Al Etihad extravaganza is no different. Several places across the capital are sure to light up over the long weekend – take a look and get there early for the best front-row seats.

The Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental will host several festivities for National Day. On December 2, get ready for a shower of fireworks to illuminate the hotel’s beachfront starting at 9:15 pm.

Before watching the skies light up, be sure to take some time to explore the Eid Al Etihad grand dome, which will be offering a host of activities from November 29 to December 3.

On Tuesday December 2, you can check out a traditional Al Ayala dance from 4pm to 10pm, while the kids get stuck into some pottery workshops.

Yas Bay

There are many excellent restaurants, bars, and cafes where you can catch the fireworks display on this national day at Yas Bay. We recommend heading to Bushra or Siddharta Lounge as prime locations.

The waterfront will be transforming into a full festival over Eid Al Etihad, complete with plenty of activities for all the family. Stroll through the 54-flag garden, tour the traditional courtyard for a spot of henna and calligraphy set up to look like the 1970s.
