The summer camp at Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental Abu Dhabi has to be one of the most luxurious of all, with a wide array of fun and educational activities for kids over the school break.
This year, kids camp starts on the 1st of July and finishes on the 30th of August. The camp is what we consider to be a multi-camp with an array of interesting activities.
Kids will partake in experiential learning based on Emirates Palace Mandarin Orientals’ five key pillars: Sustainability, Culinary, Arts and Creative, Wellbeing and Exploration.
This year the Summer Camp has been separated into two themes. Under the Sea, which runs from 1 July to 31 July and Safari Adventure which runs from 1 August to 30 August. Each camp is centred around these themes, allowing kids to partake in unique and interesting activities, relating to the key pillars.
The approach is comprehensive and holistic, not to mention the sheer amount of incredible activities. Some activities include lazy river, water paddle, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, aqua fitness and playground time.
Some other experiences include a VR adventure, a boat adventure, meeting the horses, a palace tour, movie time, loads of sports, dance classes, yoga and Zumba to name a few.

3. Aerial Gymnastics Summer Camp
Aerial Gymnastics Abu Dhabi is hosting a Summer Camp that promises a diverse range of activities to engage and entertain children. The camp provides an excellent opportunity for kids to learn new skills, make friends, and enjoy their summer in a safe and stimulating environment.

Snow Abu Dhabi offers daily and weekly passes for the newest addition to the summer camp scene.
The camp is for kids between four and ten, and operates from 9 am to 5 pm. All passes are valid from Monday to Friday.
The weekly pass is valid for five weekdays during, and the monthly pass is for twenty days.
Activities include snow park rides, snowman building, face painting, team building exercises, a treasure hunt, an arts & crafts workshop, a magic show, lunch, two snacks and a movie at VOX cinemas.
Activities vary daily, depending on the day of the booking at this Winter Wonderland.

Zayed Sports City is the perfect summer camp in Abu Dhabi for active children. There are plenty of sports to enjoy.
Similar to Emirates Palace, Zayed Sports City collaborates with a variety of experts to curate activities for children at the Abu Dhabi summer camp. This year the collaboration is with HARAKA.
The camp has a multitude of activities such as relay racing, ice-skating, bowling, racket sports, scavenger hunts, mini Olympics, team challenges and a movie with popcorn for chill-out time.

7. The National Aquarium
In 2022, The National Aquarium in Al Qana, which is very close to the Grand Mosque, ran its first summer camp. It has been a favourite of Emirati children ever since.
The camp is split between three attractions, The National Aquarium, Pixoul and Andrenark.
This camp is certainly one of the most educational experiences available. Children will erupt a volcano, create slime and undertake a micro planet experiment, where they create their own garden.
Children will also play computer science bingo, learn game-based coding and experience arcade gaming/retro gaming.

Trampolining is one of those activities all children try in Abu Dhabi since there are facilities in almost every mall. However, at Bounce summer camp children have a chance to perfect flips and tricks.
The camp is not all trampolining, there are games too. From egg and spoon races to ‘minute to win it’, red light green light, tug of war and much more. There will even be fun science experiments to partake in!

The Abu Dhabi Pottery summer camp is definitely for those children with a specific interest in crafts since pottery is so specialised. There are no fixed dates per se, the pack of sessions need to be used by the last day of the summer holidays.

20. The Club Abu Dhabi
The Club Abu Dhabi is a not-for-profit private members club based on Saadiyat Island. It is incredibly popular with families since it has tonnes of activities and social events regularly. Not to mention, many restaurants and bars.
Whilst the summer camp is for members only, there is a waitlist that guests can go on, with notification given one week before summer camp starts. It may be enough to consider membership since they have clubs on every school break.
The camp runs daily and has tonnes of sports, swimming, arts and crafts and lunch is provided by the on-site restaurant. Parents can choose from the menu at drop-off.

What is the best age to go to summer camp?
Most summer camps accept children 5+ years old as there is an expectation for children to be independent in certain self-care.
Some camps accept children as young as 3 and a half years old. While Montessori and preschool-type establishments will take kids as young as 2 years old.
When it comes to the activities on offer at some of the main camps which have a lot going on, 5 is probably a good age. However, this also depends on the child.
What are summer camp activities?
We found a variety of different summer camp activities across Abu Dhabi. Some are multi-activities with a mixture of sports, crafts, games and water activities. While some are specifically focused on sports. There are some terrific specialised camps for gymnastics, football and swimming.
