Abu Dhabi is set to boost its transport network within the city, following the announcement of a major new road linking Al Saadiyat Island and Khalifa City.
Valued at AED 2.85 billion, the project aims to improve connectivity between two key districts while easing congestion across existing routes.
This construction forms part of the capital’s wider efforts to create smoother and more efficient journeys for residents and visitors.
A New Route Across the Capital
The development will introduce a direct connection via Umm Yifeenah Island, offering an alternative to current road networks.
By opening up a fresh corridor between major residential and cultural zones, the route is expected to reduce travel times and distribute traffic more evenly across the city.
With multiple lanes and bridge structures forming part of the design, this will ensure the infrastructure can support continued expansion and the rising number of commuters.
Supporting Active and Sustainable Travel
In addition to improving vehicle access, the project will incorporate features that encourage more active lifestyles.
Plans include dedicated walking and cycling paths, as well as modern lighting systems to enhance safety and usability for pedestrians when travelling during both day and night.
