The UAE’s cultural landscape is continuing to evolve with the launch of Tashyeed, a new initiative from the UAE National Orchestra dedicated to supporting and developing Emirati musicians.
Designed as a long-term investment in the country’s creative future, the 13-month programme will provide 17 selected musicians with the opportunity to train within a professional orchestral setting through mentorship, rehearsals, workshops, and live performance experiences in the regions.
By blending traditional Arabic influences with orchestral practices, Tashyeed aims to strengthen the foundations of home-grown musical talent across the UAE.
Creating Pathways for Orchestral Talent
Tashyeed, which takes its name from the Arabic word for “building,” has been created to immerse participants in the realities of professional performance and prepare them for live events.
Instead of focusing solely on theory-based instruction, the programme places musicians directly into rehearsal and environments where they can develop practical experience alongside established professionals.
Participants in the programme will be from different emirates and musical backgrounds, creating a diverse cohort that reflects the growing depth of artistic talent emerging across the country, with the programme also embracing a wide variety of instruments.
A Wider Vision for the UAE’s Cultural Sector
This launch showcases the first stage of the UAE National Orchestra’s broader learning and community plans, with future projects expected to include school outreach programmes and further opportunities for Emirati composers.
At the end of the programme, participants will take part in a graduation concert alongside the UAE National Orchestra, offering a platform to demonstrate their development and performance skills.
As the UAE continues to invest in culture and creative education, initiatives like Tashyeed are helping lay the groundwork for a stronger and more promising future for the arts in the region.
