Abu Dhabi is already home to several iconic Guinness World Records. Capital Gate is recognised as the world’s farthest-leaning man-made building. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque also houses the world’s largest hand-woven carpet, and SeaWorld Yas Island is the world’s largest indoor marine-life theme park.

Most Waterslides in a Waterpark
Yas Waterworld holds the Guinness World Record for the most waterslides in a waterpark, with 55 slides. The record was officially achieved on 28 April 2026.
The park first opened on 24 January 2013 and has since undergone a major expansion, introducing a new themed area and 11 additional attractions. Inspired by Yas Waterworld’s Legend of the Lost Pearl storyline, the expanded park is now home to more than 70 rides, slides, and attractions.

Highest Running Track on a Building
Al Ain Tower earned a Guinness World Records title for the highest running track on a building on 17 June 2026. Located 179.7 metres above ground level, the rooftop track offers sweeping views of Abu Dhabi’s skyline.
The elevated space forms part of the tower’s premium wellness and lifestyle facilities. However, the running track is exclusively available to residents and is not open to the public.

Longest Continuous Firework Show
Abu Dhabi welcomed 2026 with a record-breaking spectacle as the Sheikh Zayed Festival staged the world’s longest continuous firework display. The show lit up the sky for 62 minutes and 18 seconds, earning the Guinness World Record on 1 January 2026.
The celebrations also featured an impressive 20-minute drone show, with 6,500 drones flying simultaneously above the festival grounds.
Held annually, the Sheikh Zayed Festival celebrates Emirati heritage alongside cultures from around the world. Its New Year’s Eve programme is one of the biggest highlights, bringing together live performances, family attractions, drone displays, and large-scale fireworks.

Highest Speed Achieved by a Rollercoaster Launch
Formula Rossa at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi holds the Guinness World Record for the highest speed achieved by a rollercoaster launch, reaching 240 kilometres per hour. The record was officially achieved on 30 April 2026.
Designed to resemble Formula One cars, the ride’s carriages accelerate from zero to 240 kilometres per hour in just 4.9 seconds. A powerful hydraulic launch system propels riders onto the 2.2-kilometre track, which was inspired by Italy’s famous Autodromo Nazionale Monza racing circuit.

Firework Records at the Sheikh Zayed Festival 2025-26
Aside from achieving the longest continuous fireworks show, the Sheikh Zayed Festival broke four more records during the New Year’s celebrations on 1 January 2026.
These include the largest number of waterfall fireworks launched within 30 seconds, the largest number of whistle-sound fireworks within 30 seconds, the largest number of thunder fireworks within 30 seconds, and the largest number of ring-shaped fireworks within 30 seconds.
