Since 2017, the capital has emerged at the top as per rankings on the online database Numbeo.
Ranking first out of 382 global cities in the 2025 standings, Abu Dhabi has been the world’s safest city for a long time now, reflecting the emirate’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life for citizens, residents and visitors.
Promotion by Abu Dhabi Police of the sense of safety and security in the city, while strengthening the trust of community members, has contributed to the city’s recognition on the Numbeo list, reinforcing the city’s position as a preferred place to study, work and live.
It’s not just the capital, two other emirates in the UAE also emerged as the world’s safest cities. Dubai and Sharjah came in second and third respectively, with Ras al-Khaimah holding its own in fourth place.
