The summer camp at Emirates Palace has to be one of the most luxurious of all with a wide array of fun and educational activities for kids over the school break.
It usually starts in early July and finishes in late August covering the entire break. The camp is what we consider to be a multi-camp with an array of interesting activities.
Some of which include Zumba, cookery classes, kite making, arts & crafts, kickboxing, swimming lessons in the pool and wake boarding to name a few.
There are also classes and sessions for younger children from 6 months + such as singing and music.
If that wasn’t enough, there is also a parents club which could be a delicious breakfast at Cascades Restaurant or an afternoon tea at Le Cafe.
There is the potential for a day pass at the beach club or a spa treatment to enjoy the time at Emirates Palace whilst the kids are entertained. This is perfect for mums and dads who have the day off or those working online who can bring their laptops.
Emirates Palace collaborate with an array of specialists such as Haddins Fitness, Pro Kids Sport and The Bright Minds Institute to ensure the lessons and activities are perfectly curated.

In 2022, The National Aquarium in Al Qana very close to the Grand Mosque ran its first summer camp.

Cabdoodle is well known as a baby and toddler hangout in Galleria Mall. However, during school breaks, Cabdoodle welcomes children up to 9 years old for its summer activities in Abu Dhabi.

14. Abu Dhabi Pottery
The Abu Dhabi Pottery summer camp is definitely for those children with a specific interest in crafts since pottery is so specialised. There are no fixed dates per se, the pack of sessions need to be used by the last day of the summer holidays.
In the sessions, children will learn to make an array of creations each with a different technique. From tiles and plates to cups, bowls and vases. Some of the skills include pinching, coiling, slab making, ceramic painting and fire glazing.

17. Korean Cultural Centre
With quite a number of Koreans in Abu Dhabi, it is no surprise there is a cultural centre in the Emirate. The summer camp runs from Monday to Thursday, however, spaces are not guaranteed and are by application only.
The program covers Korean traditional games, basic Korean words, sampling the cuisine, learning about traditional clothing and storytelling. One of the hands-on activities includes crafting a 3d traditional handbook.
Having the opportunity to visit the Korean Cultural Centre is quite unique and offers insight into another country’s customs and traditions. The same programme runs every day so it would be just a one-off visit.

21 The Club Abu Dhabi
The Club Abu Dhabi is a not-for-profit private members club based on Saadiyat Island. It is incredibly popular with families since it has tonnes of activities and social events regularly. Not to mention, many restaurants and bars.
Whilst the summer camp is for members only, it may be enough to consider membership since they have clubs on every school break.
The camp runs daily and has tonnes of sports, swimming, arts and crafts and lunch is provided by the on-site restaurant. Parents can choose from the menu at drop-off.

What is the best age to go to summer camp?
Most summer camps accept children 5+ years old as there is an expectation for children to be independent in certain self-care.
Some camps accept children as young as 3 and a half years old. Whilst Montessori and preschool-type establishments will take kids as young as 2 years old.
When it comes to the activities on offer at some of the main camps which have a lot going on, 5 is probably a good age. However, this also depends on the child.
What are summer camp activities?
We found a variety of different summer camp activities across Abu Dhabi. Some are multi-activities with a mixture of sports, crafts, games and water activities. Whilst some are specifically focused on sports. Not to mention quite specialised camps for gymnastics, football and swimming.
There are also some fantastic cultural camps run by government ministries. Not to mention other places like the Korean Cultural Foundation and Alliance Francias which offer insight into different languages, customs and traditions.
Similarly, some schools across Abu Dhabi run their own summer camp for children who are already in the school and those who will be joining the next academic year.
