A new Abu Dhabi racing team is preparing to take its place on the UAE motorsport scene. Dutch Brothers Racing (DBR) has confirmed it will compete in the upcoming 2026/27 Gulf ProCar season, taking to the grid a Volkswagen Golf Mk7 GTI supplied and prepared by UAE-based Werks Motorsport.
From Learning the Ropes to Racing for Real
DBR may be a new name in competitive motorsport, but its story is a good one. Founded in Abu Dhabi earlier this year, the team follows co-founders and drivers Jon De Jager and Alan VanderMolen as they attempt to turn their experience as novice drivers into a serious racing career.
The pair have spent recent months building their skills away from the spotlight, combining simulator sessions, track time, fitness work, and coaching with Team Manager Andy Boux. Their first Gulf ProCar appearance will now provide the biggest test of that progress so far.

Meet the New Race Car
Their Volkswagen of choice will be entering Class 5 with a turbocharged engine and a series of competition-focused changes.
The car has already seen action in Gulf ProCar, giving DBR a tested starting point as the drivers get accustomed to championship-level racing.
Putting Abu Dhabi at the Heart of the Team
Bigger and local ambition is behind this project. DBR wants to develop a racing programme that keeps Abu Dhabi firmly at its centre, working with UAE-based businesses and specialists wherever possible.
Sticking to its roots will make its partnership with Werks Motorsport particularly fitting, with the UAE company bringing experience in developing Volkswagen Group and Audi performance and race cars.
When Does Gulf ProCar Begin?
DBR will make its competitive debut on 24 October, when the 2026/27 Gulf ProCar campaign gets underway. Before then, the team plans to reveal the full livery of its new Golf.
For De Jager and VanderMolen, October will mark the point where months of preparation give way to the real thing. With a new Abu Dhabi team, a locally prepared race car, and plenty still to learn, their first season promises to be one worth following.
