Landmark Projects that are Changing Abu Dhabi’s Future

Abu Dhabi is entering a thrilling new era of development, with a collection of large-scale projects set to reshape the capital over the next few years.

Across Yas Island, Saadiyat Island and beyond, construction is already underway on major destinations designed to attract tourists, investors and residents alike.

Some projects are expected to open imminently, while others are still in the early stages of design. Here’s a look at some of Abu Dhabi’s most talked-about upcoming projects.

Guggenheim Abu Dhabi

After years of anticipation, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is finally moving closer towards completion on Saadiyat Island.

The landmark institution forms part of the Saadiyat Cultural District, joining nearby attractions including Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Zayed National Museum. Once complete, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is expected to become the largest museum in the Guggenheim network worldwide.

The museum is expected to open in late 2026.

Disneyland Abu Dhabi

One of the biggest entertainment announcements ever made in the UAE came earlier this year, when Disney confirmed plans for a new theme park resort on Yas Island. Developed in partnership with Miral, the resort will mark Disney’s first destination in the Middle East.

Disneyland Abu Dhabi will sit alongside Yas Island’s growing collection of attractions, including Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi.

The project is expected to be completed between 2030 and 2033.

Sphere Abu Dhabi

After its recent announcement, Abu Dhabi is preparing to bring one of the world’s most futuristic entertainment concepts to the capital with Sphere Abu Dhabi.

Inspired by the hugely successful venue in Las Vegas, the venue is expected to host concerts, sporting events and large-scale productions, further strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a global entertainment destination.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2029.

Ramhan Island

Set between Yas Island and Saadiyat Island, Ramhan Island is shaping up to become one of Abu Dhabi’s most exclusive waterfront communities.

The master-planned development by Eagle Hills will feature luxury villas, branded residences, wellness facilities and private beachfront living surrounded by open sea views.

Construction is already progressing, with the first residential handovers expected from 2027.

Sobha City

Sobha City is another major residential development planned for the capital, and is introducing a large-scale community focused on luxury living and green urban spaces.

The development will include modern apartments, landscaped areas, and lifestyle-focused amenities designed for both family living and buy-to-let investors, with the project reflecting Abu Dhabi’s continued push towards creating high-end residential destinations.

Final development is projected to be completed by late 2029.

As Abu Dhabi continues investing in culture, entertainment and luxury living, these projects are set to play a major role in shaping the region’s next chapter.

With what is currently on the horizon, the city’s skyline and lifestyle offering is only getting bigger, bolder, and more ambitious in the years ahead.
