Abu Dhabi is once again getting ready for a night of world-class fighting, with UFC 333 officially confirmed for the capital this October.
The headline bout is already enough to get fight fans talking. With two championship contests on the card, this promises to be another major date in Abu Dhabi’s ever-growing MMA calendar.
UFC 333 Is Coming to Yas Island
UFC 333 will be creating theatre at the Etihad Arena on Saturday 24 October, with the vibrant and lively Yas Island set to welcome fans from all over.
The wider programme will bring UFC-themed experiences and other immersive activities to the capital throughout the week, with tickets currently on sale.
Two Titles Will Be on the Line
Alexander Volkanovski will be looking to defend his UFC featherweight championship against undefeated No. 1 contender Movsar Evloev.
Volkanovski arrives with a more than respectable 28-4 professional record, whilst Russia’s Evloev has yet to lose a professional fight, entering with a perfect and outstanding 20-0 record.
Adding to the thrill is another belt at stake in the co-main event, where bantamweight champion Petr Yan meets former champion Merab Dvalishvili for the third time. Their previous two encounters ended with one victory apiece, setting up an intriguing trilogy battle in the capital.
Abu Dhabi and UFC Go Way Back
This is far from the UFC’s first visit to the capital. Since the promotion first arrived in Abu Dhabi in 2010, more than 20 events have taken place here, helping establish the city as one of the UFC’s key destinations outside North America.
That relationship has also played a key role in the sport’s wider growth across the Middle East, with more amateur events taking place throughout the year, allowing fans to watch fighters’ journeys from the start.
