Abu Dhabi is getting a brand new beach – and it’s a big win because it’s specially catered to the visually impaired!
Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination and Abu Dhabi Municipality announced this initiative as part of 2025 being the Year of the Community.

A 1,000-square-meter beach area near Gate 3 of the Corniche has been designated exclusively for the visually impaired. This offers a safe and enjoyable environment with comprehensive security, safety, and entertainment facilities.
Another big win was the beach being recognised by the World Disability Union as a Disability-Friendly Beach.
What amenities are on offer at Abu Dhabi’s newest beach?
Abu Dhabi City Municipality has gone above and beyond to tailor services specifically for the visually impaired, including:
- A dedicated vehicle service for People of Determination to facilitate transportation to the beach.
- Paved guidance pathways with specialised tactile tiles extending along the walkway.
- An instructional Braille signboard detailing the proper use of the swimming area.
- A fenced pathway equipped with a guiding rope and alert bells at both ends, emitting sound cues to direct users to the swimming area.
- A designated swimming zone supervised by a trained lifeguard to ensure safety.
- A Braille service guide provides comprehensive details to ensure a seamless experience for visually impaired visitors of all ages.
Additionally, the new Visually Impaired Beach in Abu Dhabi is free to enter, along with one accompanying guest.
Of course, there are accessible walkways for People of Determination and the elderly, dedicated restrooms, and on a cooler note – floating wheelchairs designed for water access.
There are also free transportation services for People of Determination and senior citizens, plus designated parking spaces for the former!
The Municipality has announced that the beach will be open daily from 6 am to midnight, with swimming permitted from 6 am until sunset.
For utmost safety, a licensed nurse will also be available on-site throughout the beach’s operating hours to provide first aid assistance if needed.
