But the capital has come up with another clever solution, as the city is now offering three air-conditioned walking tracks where residents can get their steps in without battling the full force of the heat.
An innovative move that feels very Abu Dhabi, residents and visitors now have more opportunities to stay active in comfortable surroundings. And for anyone who has never quite warmed to gym life, these cooled walkways could be the perfect way to keep fit as the heat lingers.
Al Khalidiyah Park
The recently redeveloped Al Khalidiyah Park occupies a 660-metre cooled walking track, giving both walkers and runners a more comfortable place to exercise.
With the temperature maintained at around 25°C, it is a welcome option for anyone looking to escape the sun without retreating indoors completely.
Al Mamoura Walkway
Al Mamoura Walkway offers another clever answer to Abu Dhabi’s summer heat.
Located near the Al Mamoura building, the climate-controlled outdoor walkway combines cooling technology with natural light, creating a more pleasant setting for a stroll when the temperatures outside are doing their thing.
King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Park
Over in Al Mushrif, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Park features an approximately 700-metre air-conditioned walking route alongside its wider green and recreational spaces.
Surrounded by mature and national Ghaf trees, it adds a little greenery to your daily step count too.
With all three walking tracks now available, keeping active in Abu Dhabi no longer has to mean choosing between a treadmill and melting outdoors.
Sometimes, the best workout is simply putting one foot in front of the other, but preferably somewhere with excellent air-conditioning.
