Etihad Rail has quickly become one of the UAE’s most talked-about new ways to get around, with passengers swapping road trips for a seat on the country’s first national passenger train.
Since services between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah began in June, demand has been strong, with the first journeys selling out before the service had even officially started.
Now, there’s another reason to hop aboard…….
Emirati Flavours Served on the Move
Etihad Rail has officially introduced a new menu celebrating Emirati cuisine, bringing traditional flavours into the onboard dining experience.
The offering has been created with Emirati chef Maitha Warshaw, taking inspiration from ingredients and flavours familiar across the UAE, with locally sourced dates, saffron, cardamom, local honey, and fresh Arabic coffee making an appearance.
One dish worth keeping an eye out for is the Emirati-inspired machboos, served with slow-braised short rib. If you want to make your first food order count, this is what is recommended to try.
The Experience
This new selection is available to passengers travelling in both comfort and premium classes, with choices designed around different times of the day, from breakfast through to dinner.
Lighter bites will be on offer to passengers as well as a children’s-friendly menu, whilst speciality coffees, teas, and fresh juices will also be part of the experience.
For a little sweet treat, passengers can also sample chocolates created specifically for the train, adding that little extra touch.
A Better Way to See The UAE
The Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route already offers plenty of window-gazing moments, with desert landscapes and the Hajar Mountains to take in. Adding Emirati food into the journey makes the experience feel even more connected to the country.
Rather than simply being the bit between your departure and arrival, the train ride is becoming part of the day out itself, as those who ride can enjoy a plate of machboos whilst watching the UAE roll past your window.
