A faster, smoother way to travel between the UAE and Oman is on the horizon. The upcoming Hafeet Rail network is set to dramatically reduce journey times, with passengers expected to travel from Abu Dhabi to Oman in under two hours.
Designed to simplify cross-border movement while offering a more comfortable alternative to driving, the project marks a significant step forward for regional transportation in the region.

A Swift Alternative to the Road
Long drives to Oman could soon be a thing of the past, with passenger trains on the Hafeet Rail line expected to reach speeds of up to 200 km/h.
This will reduce travel time between Abu Dhabi and Sohar to approximately 100 minutes, resulting in quicker weekend escapes, easier business trips, and significantly less time spent navigating traffic or waiting at border crossings.
Linking Key Destinations
The railway will span around 238 kilometres, connecting Abu Dhabi with Sohar via Al Ain.
This route will also integrate into the UAE’s wider rail network, making it easier to move between cities and across borders without relying on cars or short-haul flights.
The project reflects a shared vision between the UAE and Oman to improve connectivity and strengthen economic and tourism links in the Middle East.
Designed For the Journey
This isn’t just about getting there faster; Haffeet Rail is eager to ensure passengers enjoy the journey.
The route is expected to pass through striking desert and mountain landscapes, including areas around Jebel Hafeet, giving passengers a scenic perspective of the region.
Modern trains will focus on comfort and efficiency, offering a more relaxed, environmentally conscious way to travel.
A Shift in Regional Travel
Work on Hafeet Rail is already progressing, with significant construction milestones reached across various sections of the route.
Once complete, Hafeet Rail is set to change how people move between the UAE and Oman, with expected faster journey times, improved accessibility, and a more seamless travel experience, pointing towards a future where hopping between countries feels effortless.
