Key road closure announced on Reem island until April 30

There’s an important road closure to take note of in Abu Dhabi, especially if you’re driving through Reem Island in the coming weeks!

Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) confirmed that Al Rami Street will be partially closed from March 15, with one section reopening on March 29 and the rest remaining shut until April 30.

While we don’t know why the road closure on Reem Island was announced, it’s potentially part of ongoing roadworks and infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving the area’s traffic flow.

This means you’ll have to plan accordingly and look for alternative routes for a few weeks now, especially during rush hour to avoid getting stuck in traffic.

In addition to the road closures, there have been plenty of traffic law updates recently. Following the fines for dirty cars introduced recently, according to Decree-Law No. (14) of 2024 on Traffic Regulation will come into effect on March 29, bringing tougher penalties, stricter rules and updates to driving licence eligibility.
