The city’s reputation as a cycling-friendly city is continuing to grow, and the upcoming Hudayriyat Velodrome is set to play a major role in that journey.
Located on Hudayriyat Island, the venue will be the UAE’s first indoor velodrome built to international cycling standards, giving both professional athletes and amateur riders a dedicated space to train, compete and connect.
Scheduled to open in December, the venue has also been designed to host UCI World Cycling Cups, World Championships, and elite international racing.

A First for the UAE
A purpose-built indoor cycling track designed for track cycling disciplines, the Hudayriyat Velodrome will create opportunities for local and international events taking place in Abu Dhabi.
While outdoor cycling routes remain hugely popular across the emirate, the new venue will offer a climate-controlled environment and be usable year-round.
The velodrome will feature 3,500 permanent seats and can accommodate more than 6,000 spectators during major events, making it one of the most significant cycling venues in the Middle East.
Why Abu Dhabi is Investing in Cycling
Cycling has become one of the capital’s fastest-growing sports, with dedicated tracks, community rides, and international races attracting riders of all ages and all abilities.
Facilities such as the Al Hudayriyat Cycle Track have already established the island as a favourite destination for cyclists, and the Hudayriyat Velodrome represents the next step in supporting the sport’s continued growth.

More Than Just a Racetrack
This exciting venue is expected to serve a wider purpose than competitive cycling alone, as it aims to host events, activations, and experiences beyond elite competition.
Alongside the track itself, plans include supporting facilities and social spaces designed to create a hub for riders, spectators and visitors, with the approach allowing the space to function as both a sporting destination and a community gathering point.
Offering more theatre, a world-first 600-metre sweeping ramp will wrap around the exterior of the building, connecting the ground floor to the rooftop while offering panoramic views of the Abu Dhabi skyline.
What it Means for Hudayriyat Island
Hudayriyat Velodrome further strengthens Hudayriyat Island’s position as Abu Dhabi’s premier sports and wellness destination, joining existing attractions including Surf Abu Dhabi and 321 Sports.
It adds another year-round attraction that will draw athletes, spectators and visitors to the island while enhancing its reputation as a centre for active living.
With the renowned SIXDAYS Abu Dhabi event occupying the space for the venue’s debut later in the year, cycling enthusiasts have something very exciting to look forward to.
