If you thought Abu Dhabi’s desert was only made for peaceful escapes and sunset drives, think again. The Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge is gearing up for a fourth season, bringing another series of high-octane off-road action to some of the emirate’s most dramatic desert landscapes.
A Grassroots Challenge with Big Ambitions
Launched in 2023, the Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge is building grassroots motorsport in the UAE, giving rookies and amateur racers a chance to test themselves in a professionally organised competition.
Organised by the Emirates Motorsports Organisation and presented by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the series takes inspiration from the world of cross-country rallying, with competitors tackling marked desert courses in cars, buggies, motorcycles, and quads.
But it is about more than simply reaching the finish line. The challenge is designed to help emerging talent gain experience and develop the skills needed to progress towards bigger motorsport events across the globe.
Four Desert Dates to Look Forward To
Season four will feature four rounds across Abu Dhabi, beginning in Tilal Sweihan on 17 October. The action then moves to Liwa for rounds on 12 & 13 December, before returning to the desert in January 2027. The season will then conclude in Al Ain in April next year.
Each event will see competitors take on challenging desert terrain across courses spanning more than 100km, with categories designed to welcome a wide mix of vehicles and abilities.

Although competitors will be battling the clock, motorsport fans can follow the championship throughout the season and experience a different side of Abu Dhabi’s sporting calendar.
Showcasing roaring engines and spectacular desert backdrops, the fourth season of the Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge will be another exciting reminder that some of the emirate’s biggest sporting thrills happen far away from the stadium lights.
