If you think you’re in good shape, there is one way to put that theory to the test. The trending HYROX is returning to Abu Dhabi this October, bringing one of the world’s biggest fitness racing formats back to the capital for a weekend of running and plenty of sweat.
Taking place from 23-25 October at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, the three-day event will welcome athletes of different abilities, with Friday reserved exclusively for women before the competition continues across the weekend.

HYROX In Short
If you’ve noticed more people talking about HYROX lately, there’s good reason. The fitness race has grown rapidly since its launch in Hamburg, Germany, in 2017, developing an international following among dedicated gym-goers and seasoned competitors alike.
The idea is relatively straightforward: run, complete a workout station, run again, and repeat until you reach the finish line.
A Serious Workout
Throughout the race, competitors complete eight one-kilometre runs, with each section followed by a different functional fitness challenge. With sledge pushes, rowing, SkiErg exercises, burpee broad jumps, sandbag lunges, and wall balls, it’s fair to say it’s an event worth prepping for.
It is advised that if you’re planning to enter, the training should combine cardio, strength, and endurance, whilst getting your body used to switching between running and resistance exercises.
Start Training Now
The beauty of HYROX is that you don’t have to be a professional athlete to give it a go. The format is designed to welcome different levels of fitness, making it as much about challenging yourself as competing against the clock.
What’s also good news is that you can take this on in pairs, through the ‘Double Division’, meaning you compete with a friend or turn this into an extremely active date day.
With October now firmly on the horizon, Abu Dhabi’s next big fitness challenge gives you a pretty good excuse to lace up those trainers and start training.
