Disneyland Abu Dhabi Could Have Fireworks, And Honestly, We’d Expect Nothing Less

Fireworks and Disney go together like Timon and Pumbaa. Think back to Sleeping Beauty or jump forward to Moana; once that familiar castle appears and the fireworks kick off at the start of a Disney film, you know the magic is about to begin.

So, when new visuals showed fireworks lighting up the sky on Yas Island, it was hard not to get a little excited.

Will There Be Fireworks?

Not officially as of yet, but there is now a rather interesting hint that they could be. New concept artwork shared by Aldar as part of its plans for the neighbouring Yas Point development appears to show people watching fireworks from a waterfront setting, and it appears to be where the future Disneyland Abu Dhabi will be developed.

It is the first indication that the new Disney resort could feature a key outdoor element. This is significant as Disneyland Abu Dhabi has previously been described as a hybrid destination, rather than a fully outdoor theme park.

Abu Dhabi’s climate means the park experience is expected to be indoors, but this latest glimpse suggests outdoor spaces could still play an important role.

Where Could the Fireworks Be?

This is where we have to put our detective hats away for a moment. The artwork appears to place the fireworks around a waterfront area, which makes sense given the park’s location on the Yas Island coastline and its planned water-integrated castle.

But there has been no confirmation of a dedicated fireworks viewing area, and if the display would be inside the park or somewhere around the wider resort.

When Will Disney Confirm It?

That remains the big question. Disney has not announced an entertainment schedule or confirmed that fireworks will form part of Disneyland Abu Dhabi’s nightly offering.

The project is still firmly in development, with Disney Imagineers continuing work researching Abu Dhabi’s culture and heritage as part of the pre-planning.

Still, if Disney is going to bring its first Middle Eastern theme park to Abu Dhabi, we’d be surprised if there wasn’t a little sparkle waiting for us after dark.
