A new chapter in UAE travel has officially begun as Etihad Rail’s first passenger service completed its historic and inaugural journey to Abu Dhabi this morning.
Travelling from Fujairah to Mohammed Bin Zayed City Station, the train covered the route in just over one hour and forty minutes, arriving several minutes ahead of schedule, adding a bonus to the trip.
The milestone journey combined efficiency with celebration, giving the first passengers a glimpse of what rail travel across the Emirates could look like as the long-awaited network begins welcoming travellers.

Etihad Rail’s maiden service showcased a travel experience designed around comfort and convenience, as passengers settled into modern carriages with spacious seating and generous legroom, creating a relaxed atmosphere throughout the journey.
Large windows offered changing views of the UAE’s diverse landscapes, while the smooth ride highlighted the railway’s key ambition to provide an appealing alternative to travelling by road.

This momentous occasion was about far more than reaching a destination, as the launch was marked with a festive atmosphere at Fujairah Station, featuring traditional Emirati hospitality, including Arabic coffee, and cultural performances as passengers prepared to board.
