For anyone aged 18 to 25 looking to explore their creative side, a new initiative by Guggenheim Abu Dhabi offers a compelling opportunity.
While the museum itself is not yet open, applications are now live for its “Contemporary Makers” Youth Programme, with sessions to take place at MAKE Abu Dhabi. The initiative is designed to support and inspire young creatives across the UAE.
Part of the wider vision for the Saadiyat Cultural District, the programme gives participants the chance to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative, experimental setting ahead of the museum’s official opening.
An Inclusive Creative Space
Open to UAE residents, “Contemporary Makers” is designed with accessibility in mind and requires no formal art background.
This programme is an ideal entry point for anyone curious about creativity, materials, and artistic expression. There is also a focus on enthusiasm, openness, and a willingness to engage with new ideas.
The Spring cohort will run from 13th April to 4th June 2026, with ceramics as the subject. This will give participants the chance to explore form, texture, and technique through guided practice.
Hands-On Learning with Industry Insight
Sessions will take place every Thursday from 5.00 PM to 7.00 PM at MAKE Abu Dhabi, a consistent space for participants to develop their skills.
Artist-led sessions will encourage experimentation and provide chances to exchange ideas with peers.
It’s as much about the process as it is about the final outcome.
Three Chances to Get Involved
The programme is structured across three cohorts: Spring, Summer and Fall.
Each cohort centres on a different creative theme, allowing participants to explore various disciplines and how art connects with cultural and social conversations.
