Residents across the United Arab Emirates will soon notice a change in how emergency alerts appear on their mobile phones.
Authorities have updated the National Early Warning System so that alerts sent overnight will arrive around 10:30 pm and 9:00 am with a softer, text-style tone rather than the louder warning sound used during the day.
This recent adjustment is designed to keep residents informed while reducing late-night disruption, ensuring that the system continues to deliver important updates.

• Daytime alert time: 9:00 am-10:30 pm
• New change: Softer notification tone overnight

A small update to the UAE’s alert system
The system will continue to function exactly as before in terms of speed and reliability. It will continue to reach all devices in the Emirates, so everyone is alerted and can take appropriate measures.
The update has changed the alert’s noise and tone to a less intrusive, more calming, less alarming sound.
The alert system operates nationwide and reaches mobile devices across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah.
When Louder Alerts and Quieter Notifications Will Be Used
During daytime hours, between 9:00 am and 10:30 pm, alerts will continue to use the familiar loud emergency tone. This ensures that the messages received are easily heard when people are out, travelling, or in busy environments.
Daytime alerts will continue to be accompanied by follow-up notifications once the environment is safe.
Between 10:30 pm and 9:00 am, alerts will now arrive with a quieter, text-message style tone.
The same softer sound will apply to both alert messages and “all clear” updates during these hours.
Staying connected to official updates
Residents are encouraged to follow these alerts and instructions, and to rely only on official government announcements when receiving any alerts.
Authorities have informed the public not to share unverified information through direct contact or social media channels.
