A Daily Operation on a Huge Scale
From the early hours of the morning, teams begin preparing thousands of meals to ensure they are ready in time for Maghrib.
Industrial kitchens across the emirate work methodically to cook vast quantities of rice, meat, vegetables, and traditional emirate dishes. Each meal is packed and includes essentials for breaking the fast, such as dates, water, and juice.
The scale is impressive. Tens of thousands of kilograms of ingredients are used daily, with distribution points extending beyond the mosque itself. Their message and actions are powerful, ensuring that no one observing Ramadan goes without iftar.
Continuing a Legacy of Giving
The Iftar programme at the Grand Mosque has been a longstanding tradition, rooted in the values championed by the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. His vision of community care and humanitarian support continues to shape initiatives like this one.
More than 2,000 staff members and volunteers contribute daily to the effort, from chefs and packers to drivers and organisers. Their work ensures that meals are delivered efficiently and respectfully, maintaining quality and convenience for recipients.
