Etihad Airways is keeping things fresh with the launch of three new routes this November, connecting Abu Dhabi with Chiang Mai, Hong Kong, and Tunis.
Each destination brings something totally different to the table, from mountain mornings in northern Thailand to neon nights in Hong Kong and Mediterranean magic in Tunisia.
Three New Destinations, Three New Vibes
The airline’s new service to Tunis took off on November 1, flying three times a week to Tunisia’s laid-back capital. It’s the kind of place where history meets sunshine, you can explore ancient ruins by day, sip mint tea by the sea at sunset, and still be back at your hotel in time for dinner.

Just two days later, Etihad launched routes to Chiang Mai and Hong Kong. Chiang Mai, often referred to as the cultural heart of Thailand, feels like a slower, more soulful version of Bangkok.

Think leafy streets, jungle views, and that irresistible aroma of street food everywhere you go. Then there’s Hong Kong, a city that needs no selling. The skyline, the food, the energy, it’s non-stop, and we love it.

Abu Dhabi at the Centre of It All
This isn’t just about adding new pins to a map. With these routes, Etihad is strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a global gateway linking Africa, Asia, and Europe.
The airline has been on a significant growth streak, and these launches are part of a broader plan to make Abu Dhabi travel easier, smoother, and more connected for everyone flying through the UAE capital.
Why These Choices Make Sense
Each of these cities adds its own flavour to Etihad’s growing network. Tunis opens up North Africa’s art and culture scene.
Chiang Mai offers something completely different from Thailand’s beach destinations. Calm, cool, and bursting with local charm!
Hong Kong reconnects one of Asia’s most significant business and leisure hubs back to the UAE, making it an easy jump for both weekend explorers and work travellers.
The Perfect Excuse to Travel
With the winter travel season officially here, this expansion couldn’t have come at a better time. Picture yourself wandering through the souks of Tunis, exploring mountain temples in Chiang Mai, or watching the Hong Kong skyline light up at night.
Whether you’re chasing culture, food, or just a change of scenery, these new routes tick all the boxes.
A Win for Tourism and Travellers
The move is a significant boost for tourism, bringing more visitors to Abu Dhabi while providing residents with even more reasons to escape. It’s another confident step from Etihad as it continues to grow and connect the UAE to more of the world in 2025.
So, Where to First?
Whether it’s lanterns in Chiang Mai, cocktails in Hong Kong, or sunsets in Tunis, Etihad just made it a whole lot easier to find your next adventure.
Three cities, endless possibilities and one very good reason to start packing!
