Etihad Rail passenger train service to launch in 2026

Looking forward to the launch of the Etihad Rail passenger train service? This might happen sooner than you think, with the date set for 2026!

The new high-speed train is all set to slash travel time between Dubai and Abu Dhabi to under 60 minutes. That’s saving over an hour and, of course, avoiding traffic.

The new service is part of the broader UAE National Rail Network, a strategic initiative to boost connectivity.

So what can you expect from the upcoming Etihad Rail passenger train?

The modern passenger trains are capable of reaching speeds up to 200 km/hr. It’s obviously going to be faster than the usual 2.5-hour drive, in addition to reducing carbon emissions and supporting the UAE’s sustainability goals.

The route will include major stops in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, with other emirates to follow in the future. Of course, all stations will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and seamless transport connections to metros, buses and taxis.

The passenger train’s 2026 launch is in line with the UAE’s long-term vision to enhance mobility, connect communities and provide efficient, low-emission public transport options across the Emirates.
