UAE announces nomination-based Golden Visa for Indians

The UAE Golden Visa for Indians just got a major update! The new nomination-based Golden Visa programme will offer Indian citizens lifetime residency without the need for large property or business investments.

The initiative is still in its pilot phase with just India and Bangladesh for now.

Currently, Indian citizens can secure a Golden Visa in the UAE by investing a minimum of AED 2 million in property or making substantial business investments.

Per media reports, 5,000 Indians are expected to apply within the first three months of the launch.

Golden Visa eligibility updates for Indians

With the new nomination-based system, eligible applicants could obtain lifetime residency by paying a fee of AED 100k, subject to background checks and approval by UAE authorities.

Applicants will undergo strict background checks that include

  • Verification against anti-money laundering databases
  • Criminal records
  • Review of social media activity
  • The assessment will also consider the applicant’s potential contribution to the UAE in sectors such as culture, science, finance, startups, trade, or professional services

Once the checks are complete, the application will be forwarded to the UAE government authorities.

Another marked difference is that approved applicants will receive the Golden Visa without needing to visit the UAE during the application phase.

So, where can you submit your applications? One Vasco centres in India and Bangladesh, registered offices, the Rayad Group’s online portal, or via a dedicated call centre.

The new visa provides lifetime residency and includes the right to sponsor family members, domestic workers, and drivers. With the property-based Golden visa, you run the risk of losing it if the property is sold or divided. However, the nomination-based Golden Visa remains permanent regardless of property ownership status.
