In a post on social media, the authority confirmed: “Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has put in place regulations and laws against neglected vehicles under Act No. 2, 2012, to ensure a sustainable urban environment. Let’s work together to keep our streets organized and clean!”

What are the types of fines for dirty cars in Abu Dhabi?

The authority has implemented three types of penalties depending on the type of violation.

Clause No. 62 – First offenders leaving a vehicle dirty in a public place will face a fine of AED 500. Get caught again, and it’s AED 1,000, with a fine of AED 2,000 for third offences. Why not just get the car cleaned up instead?

Clause No. 63 – For those who have a car body or frame abandoned in a public spot – it’s a heftier fine. Under Law No. 2 of 2012, the DMT says penalties will be issued for cars that lead to a distorted public appearance, starting at AED 1,000 for a first violation, AED 2,000 for a second, and a whopping AED 4,000 for a third offence.

If you haven’t already, get that car cleaned up!
