Drivers across Abu Dhabi are being urged to plan their journeys carefully this weekend, as Abu Dhabi Mobility has confirmed a series of temporary road closures in key residential areas.
Taking place on Saturday, the 4th of April, the restrictions are part of coordinated traffic management efforts designed to ease congestion and support ongoing infrastructure works across certain areas of the city.

Affected Areas
The closures will be implemented in both Mohammed bin Zayed City and Musaffah Shabiya, two of Abu Dhabi’s most densely populated districts.
These neighbourhoods are regularly used by commuters and residents alike, meaning some disruption is expected throughout the day.
Specific roads and internal streets within these areas will be partially or fully closed, particularly those that connect to major routes and intersections.
Alternative Routes and Diversions
To help keep traffic moving, diversion routes will be clearly signposted across affected locations, with Abu Dhabi Mobility confirming that alternative roads will remain open.
However, with increased traffic expected on surrounding roads, motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys, especially during peak travel hours.
Using navigation apps or checking live traffic updates before setting off can also help avoid delays.
Supporting Smoother Travel Long-Term
While the temporary closures may cause short-term inconvenience, they form part of wider plans to enhance Abu Dhabi’s road network.
These measures are aimed at improving traffic flow, reducing congestion, and ensuring safer journeys across the emirate in the future.
Upgrades in high-traffic areas such as Mohammed bin Zayed City and Musaffah Shabiya are particularly important, given their role in connecting residential communities with industrial and commercial zones.
Plan Ahead Before Heading Out
If you’re travelling this Saturday, taking a few moments to map out your route could make all the difference. Staying informed and following official guidance will help ensure a smoother experience on the roads.
