School may be out for the summer, but learning in the city certainly isn’t slowing down, as the Sheikh Zayed Summer Festival 2026 has been announced and is preparing to welcome children and teenagers for six weeks of interactive experiences.
Taking place in July and August, the festival is designed for young people ages 6 to 18, offering a diverse schedule of activities that encourage creativity, curiosity, fitness, and personal development in a fun and engaging atmosphere.
It also marks the first time a festival of this kind has been held at the Al Wathba festival grounds in the summer, transforming a destination traditionally associated with winter celebrations into a hub for learning and discovery.

A Summer of Skills and Discovery
This event aims to provide young participants with opportunities to develop practical skills and engage in educational experiences outside the traditional classroom.
Throughout the variety of workshops offered, learning sessions and interactive activities will be encouraged, with opportunities to collaborate with others and discover new talents.
Designed to cater to different age groups, it balances educational value with hands-on experiences, ensuring that every day brings something new to explore.
Organisers are also promoting the experience as “Al Wathba Wonderland”, with early previews suggesting a unique setting inspired by European winter vibes, reimagined for the UAE summer.
Exploring Innovation and Emerging Technologies
A key focus of the Sheikh Zayed Summer Festival is introducing young participants to future-facing subjects, with activities centred around innovation, technology, and artificial intelligence.
By combining learning with practical application, the festival seeks to make complex topics accessible and enjoyable for younger audiences, giving them a chance to engage with ideas and skills that are becoming increasingly important in today’s world, such as AI.
What To Know Before You Go
This immersive festival runs from 6 July – 23 August 2026 and promises to be an enriching summer experience for children and teenagers across Abu Dhabi.
Traditionally, the Sheikh Zayed Festival has only taken place during the cooler winter months, making full use of its expansive outdoor setting.
While organisers have not yet formally announced how the venue will be adapted for the summer season, the launch of this new initiative may introduce additional facilities and infrastructure to enhance the experience.
Families interested in taking part can follow the festival’s official channels for registration details and programme announcements as the start date approaches.
