Remote Learning Extended Across the UAE

Students across the UAE will remain in virtual classrooms for longer, following a new announcement confirming the extension of distance learning.

This decision will impact all levels of education in Abu Dhabi, from early years to universities, as authorities continue to adopt a cautious and flexible approach.

With learning continuing online, families and educators are adjusting to a slightly longer period of at-home routines.

Distance Learning to Continue

The Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) have officially announced that remote learning extended will continue across all Emirates for an extended period.

From March 2nd, distance learning was announced for a week, with the spring break being pushed forward to accommodate children being at home during this time. The break would run from March 9th to March 22nd, with classes and official working hours scheduled to resume on March 23rd.

This update applies to nurseries, schools and higher education institutions, and will be in place for two weeks after spring break ends. This applies to both public and private education.

How Families Are Being Supported

The move reflects ongoing efforts to prioritise the wellbeing of students and staff, with authorities closely monitoring the situation before confirming a return to in-person classes.

Where possible, flexible arrangements are being introduced to help parents manage work and home learning. Depending on the sector and positions held, employees may be eligible for remote working options where possible.

What Schools and Students Can Expect

Schools are continuing to provide resources and guidance to support students learning from home. With online classes scheduled, there is no disruption to the academic calendar.

Teachers will maintain regular lessons, assignments and assessments through digital platforms, and students are encouraged to stay engaged and follow their usual routines as closely as possible.

Officials will review the situation regularly before announcing the next steps. Updates are expected to be shared through official channels in the coming weeks.
