Dates and themes for the second edition of the Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial have been announced by The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi). Public Art Abu Dhabi will transform public spaces in the city with artworks and installations.
This year’s edition will take place across both Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The programme is set to open in Al Ain on 23 October and make its launch in Abu Dhabi on 15 November. Various artist commissions and public projects will be brought to venues in both cities.
The programme will run until 15 February 2027. In 2026, the theme for the biennial is “Home: A Glossary for a Communal Sense of Place”. Artworks and installations will be centred on the idea of home as an experience that continues to evolve and mould itself while being shared among individuals.

The 2026 edition of Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial will also feature research-led projects and public interactions. The goal is to allow audiences to explore art beyond conventional gallery spaces.
As Abu Dhabi’s art and culture scene continues to grow rapidly, the upcoming biennial becomes particularly important. The programme positions public art as a civil practice that fosters collective participation and ownership of art in the emirate.
