Been putting off that car wash? According to the Department of Municipalities and Transport’s (DMT) latest announcement, vehicle owners of dirty cars in Abu Dhabi can now face a range of fines!
Car owners leaving dirty, distorted, and abandoned vehicles will face fines of up to AED 4,000, especially for the vehicle owners leaving their cars in public places in a way that ‘distorts general appearance.’

In a post on social media, the authority confirmed: “Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has put in place regulations and laws against neglected vehicles under Act No. 2, 2012, to ensure a sustainable urban environment. Let’s work together to keep our streets organized and clean!”
What are the types of fines for dirty cars in Abu Dhabi?
The DMT has issued clear penalties based on the type of violation. Here’s what you need to know:
Clause No. 62 – Leaving a dirty vehicle in a public area?
- First offence: AED 500
- Second offence: AED 1,000
- Third offence: AED 2,000

Clause No. 63 – Abandoning a car body or frame in public?
This is considered a serious violation that affects the city’s appearance.
- First offence: AED 1,000
- Second offence: AED 2,000
- Third offence: AED 4,000
