A Desert Iftar Worth Leaving the City For

Ramadan evenings in Abu Dhabi often centre around the city, but at Al Wathba, a Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa, the experience feels entirely different.

Set deep within the dunes, the resort’s Bedouin-inspired Iftar at Al Mabeet Desert Camp offers a chance to step away from the usual pace and into a setting shaped by tradition and the beauty of the desert.

As the sun sets and the desert shifts into warm shades of amber and gold, guests arrive to lantern light, woven textures, and a softly glowing bonfire that creates an intimate atmosphere.

A Traditional Iftar with a Desert Soul

The experience begins, in keeping with tradition, with dates and refreshing beverages served to break the fast. From there, the Iftar unfolds through a generous spread that balances Arabic heritage with international flavours.

Live stations prepare fresh salads, comforting soups, and seasonal mezze, while main courses are designed for sharing, bringing people together around the table.

Throughout the evening, the melodies of a live Qanoon player drift across the camp, adding to the atmosphere without overwhelming it.

As the night settles in, guests can linger beside the bonfire with Arabic coffee and a selection of traditional Ramadan sweets.

With the dunes stretching into the distance and stars beginning to appear overhead, it’s an idyllic location away from the city during Ramadan.

Available daily throughout Ramadan from sunset until 10 pm, the Bedouin-inspired Iftar is priced at AED 280 per person, inclusive of beverages, with children aged 6 to 12 dining at AED 140.
