All you need to know about Disneyland Abu Dhabi

Are you ready for the happiest and most magical place on Earth to come right to your doorstep? You’re in luck – because Disneyland Abu Dhabi just got officially confirmed!

It’s going to be the first-ever Disney theme park and resort of its kind in the Middle East. The opening date is yet to be confirmed, but authorities have spoken of it taking 2-3 years to design and another 4 to build. Can’t wait!

The theme park in Abu Dhabi will be located on Yas Island, anchored by the waterfront, making it a unique location that’ll set it apart from other Disneyland venues.

The announcement was made by Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), and Disney chief executive Bob Iger at the W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island.

Upon completion, the new theme park resort will offer signature Disney entertainment, themed accommodations, unique dining and retail experiences, and storytelling in a way that celebrates both the heritage of Disney and the futuristic and cultural essence of Abu Dhabi.

As of now, the company has 12 parks across six destinations in California, Florida, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

In Asia, there are two parks at Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan, one park at both Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Shanghai Disney Resort in China. Disneyland Paris in France, a resort with two parks, is the only one in Europe.

With the first-ever official Disney store opening in the UAE just recently, the Disneyland Abu Dhabi announcement doesn’t come as much of a shocker.
