Abu Dhabi authorities have issued new guidance encouraging remote working arrangements for private sector employees across the emirate this week. The move is part of ongoing precautionary measures to prioritise public safety.
Flexible Work Where Possible
The recommendation was announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and applies to companies that can facilitate work-from-home operations.
The Ministry clarified that decisions to suspend work or modify arrangements remain under the authority of local authorities, based on developments in the ongoing situation.
Employers are also encouraged to communicate clearly with staff about any temporary adjustments to schedules or working arrangements.
Stay Updated Through Official Channels
Employees and employers are advised to follow updates from official government platforms for the latest information. As with previous guidance, any further decisions will be communicated transparently through authorised channels.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation released the following statement on March 1st, 2026, through their X channel.

“The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation recommends that private sector establishments in the country take the necessary measures to avoid the presence of workers in open areas, with the exception of vital and essential roles that require physical attendance, and to implement remote working arrangements wherever possible.
“This measure will apply for a period of three days, from Sunday, March 1, until Tuesday, March 3.
“The Ministry clarified that the decision to suspend work, or otherwise, is left to the competent local authorities, each within its respective jurisdiction, in accordance with developments in the ongoing situation.
“The Ministry also called on local private sector establishments to obtain information and follow updates from official sources at both the federal and local levels in the country.”
