What happens when you take one of the world’s favourite desserts and give it an Abu Dhabi-inspired twist?
You get Mina Creamery, a homegrown ice cream parlour in Mina Zayed where the usual chocolate and vanilla are joined by flavours inspired by karak, saffron, dates, baklava, and plenty of other unexpected ingredients.
It All Started with a Little Experiment
Mina Creamery was founded by Rihab Al Gurg and Anant Singh, with the idea starting long before the duo opened the doors to their permanent shop.
For Anant, ice cream started as a university experiment at NYU Abu Dhabi, where he began making date ice cream in his dorm room. Rihab, meanwhile, had already been exploring her love of frozen desserts through her own project, ‘The Ice Cream Diaries’.
The pair eventually joined forces, launching Mina Creamery as an online business before taking their scoops to pop-ups around the UAE. In December 2025, the brand took its biggest step yet, opening its first permanent location in Mina Zayed.
Your Next Scoop Could Be Anything
What’s fun is not quite knowing what you’re going to find. Mina Creamery has become known for inventive combinations including Karak Chai with Toasted Biscuits, Salted Saffron Halwa, Orange Blossom Baklava, Gahwa Stracciatella and Aseeda.
Playful creations such as Rainwater Sorbet, which, thankfully, is actually lemon, alongside seasonal flavours appear on the menu when particular ingredients are at their best.
The menu is deliberately changeable, and a return visit feels completely different from the last.
Why Everyone Is Talking About It
These unusual flavours have helped Mina Creamery become one of the Capital’s more talked-about dessert destinations, attracting curious first-timers alongside regulars eager to see what has landed in the freezer.
You can visit the Mina Zayed shop from Wednesday to Sunday, 12.00 PM to 10.00 PM, and with the menu constantly evolving, there is always a reason to come back.
