There are so many things to do this weekend – from sports to operas, winter camps, and so much more! In addition to partial closures, there are some ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon road closures to take note of.
One of the city’s largest sporting events will stretch across a 42.1km course in the capital this Saturday, 13 December.

This generally leads to plenty of road closures to accommodate the thousands of runners making their way around the route. So if you’re driving to and from Abu Dhabi on Saturday, plan ahead and take note of alternate routes to avoid delays or congestion.
Starting from 5 am on Saturday, 13 December, the last phase of closures will end at 12.30 pm the same day.
Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street will be closed in four different phases, before looping around Al Jami’ Al Kabeer Street and finishing on Saif Ghobash Street.
Phase-wise breakdown of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi marathon road closures
- Phase 1: 5 am-7 am (Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street)
- Phase 2: 5 am-8.30 am (Al Bateen Street)
- Phase 3: 3 am-9.30 am (Corniche Street)
- Phase 4: 6 am-10 am (Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed St)
- Phase 5: 6 am-10 am (Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed St)
- Phase 6: 6 am-10.45 am (Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed St)
- Phase 7: 4 am-11.15 am (Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed St)
- Phase 8: 6.30 am-12.30 pm (Al Jami’ Al Kabeer Street/Saif Ghobash Street)
Alternative routes have been suggested during the marathon, highlighted in green on the Abu Dhabi Mobility map.
The races will begin from Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi, with the Elite Marathon kicking off at 5.45 am, followed by the Marathon and Marathon Relay at 6 am.
